Today we are going to talk about sanitary ware and their toilet seat covers that resemble the drop shape. These are the shapes that start out narrow at the back and widen at the front of the toilet towards the user. Over time, many ceramic manufacturers (Ideal Standard, Cesame, Eos, Pozzi Ginori, Globo and many others) have proposed this shape that has met with great success on the bathroom furniture market.
LIUTO series by Ideal Standard
In our opinion the original shape, the model from which this style started is this one: Liuto by Ideal Standard. We have already found it clearly in the post: “Ideal Standard toilet seats and sanitary ware old models (part 1)” and also in the post: “Older sanitary ware no longer in production. Where can I find the toilet seat? (part 1)”. If you look at the picture opposite, you can see its teardrop shape perfectly. At the back it is narrower and widens in the direction of the user.
It was mainly produced in Ideal Standard White (don’t you know the difference between normal white (EU) and Ideal Standard white? I recommend this post [ clik HERE ]), but also in the official Ideal Standard colours: champagne, mink, whisper pink, whisper blue, whisper grey… A useful tool to understand the colour of your sanitary ware and order the toilet seat in the correct colour is to read this post [ clik HERE ]. ARETUSINA series by Cesame
She was the little sister of Cesame’s legendary Arethusa series, which we talked about in the post: “Ceramica Cesame and the big challenge to the big names in the sector. The original toilet seats are still available. (part 1)”. It was called Aretusina, looking at it one finds the unique shape of Arethusa perfectly, it is only slightly smaller in size and this resizing has accentuated the drop effect of the toilet seat cover. Narrow back that widens forward. Recently, for this series by Cesame, a version of the Urea thermosetting toilet seat cover has also been made with soft-close hinges. All the toilet seat covers available for the Aretusina series can be found in the Sintesibagno store at the following link [ clik HERE ]
CLIO series by Eos Ceramiche
We talked about Eos Ceramiche in the post: ”EOS Ceramiche (Simca). A market success that ended too quickly. Where can I find the toilet seat?” where we saw theseries: COMPACT, ASTRO, MISTRAL, EDGE, RIACE e PANTHEON. We left out Clio to see it here, looking at the picture of the toilet seat you can see perfectly the rear shape which is narrower than the front of the toilet. All available toilet seat models for this sanitary ware series are available at the following link [ clik HERE ]
